Parents in Zimbabwe can now pay the school fees of their children using livestock. That is the announcement from the country’s government.
Zimbabwe’s Minister Lazarus Dokora has said that managers of schools must be willing to accept the new mode of payment.
The latest transaction to benefit from livestock is the payment of fees which has received mixed reactions.
In an interview with the state-owned newspaper Sunday Mail, the education ministry’s permanent secretary Sylvia Utete-Masango said “Parents of the concerned pupils can pay their fees using livestock,”
The Southern African country led by 93 year old President, Robert Mugabe is struggling with an economic crisis which has made it difficult for citizens to have access to cash.
Many banks have had customers queuing to withdraw their cash and these new alternatives for payments are considered the best solution by the Zimbabwean government.
