President John Mahama has revealed that the crowd that attended the 2016 elections campaign launch of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Cape Coast on Sunday, 14 August, has energised and inspired him ahead of this year’s elections.
Several dignitaries including the founder of the party and former President, Mr Jerry John Rawlings, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur and his wife and almost all the leading executives of the party, were in attendance. Supporters numbering over 40,000 filled the Cape Coast stadium to capacity on the day.
Mr Mahama on Wednesday, 17 August wrote on his Facebook page that: “At the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday, I officially launched my party, the NDC’s campaign for election 2016. My fellow NDC members, you energised and inspired me with your unity and hope, manifested by your sheer presence. It was all there, for anyone to see.”
“I send to all of you my heartfelt thanks! Our party is united and poised for victory! Let us focus on our message, let us tell our story, because it’s a very compelling one! It is our mission to move Ghana to greater heights. It is our job to complete the transformation of our beloved Ghana! May God bless all of us!”
