A car belonging to the wife of former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan has been allegedly seized by government taskforce.
According to reports, the BMW 7 series registered in 2016 was snatched last Friday from a mechanic’s garage in Accra.
Mr. Boateng Gyan confirmed this unfortunate incident on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday.
He said his wife who is a retired Prison Officer sent the car for servicing when three soldiers, two policemen and two civilians stormed the mechanic shop for the car.
The NDC man said they claim the car looked like a government vehicle thus are taking it to the Castle.
He said at the Castle, which has become the den of an illegal car-seizing syndicate, a transport officer whose name he was not told, asked the mechanic to go home and fetch the original documents of the car.
Mr. Boateng Gyan who was then in the Brong Ahafo region said he rushed home and gave the documents to the mechanic as instructed.
After scrutiny of the documents by the taskforce, he said taskforce gave the vehicle back to the young man on Monday, February 13, 2016.
Wofa Boateng Gyan however expressed worry about the manner the taskforce is doing their work since criminals can also take advantage of the situation.
He called on President Akufo-Addo who believes in the rule of law to ensure the right things are done according to law.
