Womba Africa Dancing and Drumming, a unique and talented group of youthful dancers and drummers, on Independence Day (Monday, March 6th, 2017) got all the attention and praise at the Calabash Pub at the Titanic Beach, Sakumono, Accra.
The cultural group was indeed a delight to watch as many of the patrons of the pub stood in awe watching them as they performed.
The elegant ceremony lasted for an hour-and-a-half (5:30 p.m.,-6:30 p.m.,) and was filled with dancing and drumming from the enthusiastic and professional dancers.
In an interview with Entertainment Today, Director of Womba Africa, Frederick Quaye Odai, expressed that he was overwhelmed about the crowd, love and support showed to them.
“The show was a huge success and the crowd was wonderful and very supportive,” an elated Frederick Quaye said.
Speaking to some patrons of pub, they said: “Womba is just unique in everyway and I am glad that I witnessed them.”
“I have not seen dancing and drumming with such intensity. They were just brilliant,” some of them said.
The group aspires to exhibit their exciting unique tradition and contemporary West African rhythm and harmonies through a vibrant display of dancing and drumming.
Womba Africa Dance and Drumming cultural group is expected to perform at Junior High Schools within Teshie-Nungua in the coming months during the schools cultural festivals shows.
The group is made up of seasoned and experienced youth who have travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and most of the Africa countries.
