Dr Addai-Mensah Otchere earlier this week wrote to decline President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s appointment as the Director of the Ghana Standards Authority mynewsgh.com can exclusively report.
This was after a meeting held with the president at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday April 4, 2017 though he declined further comment on the matter
The former acting Dean, of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) until his appointment he turned down only Today was also the Head of Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and College of Health Sciences of KNUST.
His appointment according to a letter sighted by mynewsgh.com took effect from March 7, 2017 but in view of his decision, the president is expected to name a replacement in the coming days.
Copies of letters sighted by mynewsgh.com from the presidency confirmed that indeed Dr Addai-Mensah Otchere had a meeting with the President before he withdrew his acceptance letter dated March 30, 2017 citing personal reasons.
In his withdrawal letter, he stated “I write to peacefully withdraw the letter of acceptance (dated 30th March 2017) of the position offered me by His Excellency the President as the Acting Director of the Ghana Standards Authority by a letter dated 7th March 2017. This has been necessitated by my decision to decline the said appointment for personal reasons after meeting with His Excellency The President at the Flagstaff House on April 4, 2017.
