Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has denied damning Ghana’s King of Comedy DKB as a boring comedian.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings in an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong of Onua FM’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre on Friday, April 21 stated that she doesn’t even know who DKB is.
“What I can say is that anytime we are having a comedy show, the comedian needs to sit and think over the jokes they want to share with the audience from the beginning of the show all the Gh[ana] comedians who performed the night used vulgar language throughout their performance.
“Ghana has gone beyond what they did that night. I have been to a number of comedy shows where Ghanaian and Nigerian comedians were featured on but I don’t think Nigerians can perform better than us but I don’t think they (Nigerians) use vulgar languages in their comedies.”
The wife of former president Jerry John Rawlings explaining why she made her way to the exit said “I wanted to go with my grandchildren. For some reason, I realized it was too late, so I went with two friends”.
She continued: “We all felt that if this is the way we share jokes in Ghana, then it’s a disgrace to us as a country. I wanted to listen to the music [but] after some time my friends said this is unacceptable. The way the comedians were using vulgar language throughout, I told my friends I want to go so if they are ready we should go. We sat down for long and kept waiting if it could get better.”
She singled out one Nigerian comedian as having performed better.
