The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Madam Charlotte Osei, has responded to pleas by the flagbearer of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom for 5 minutes audience with her.
She says not even a minute, two; three, four or five can make any difference to the fact that he has been disqualified from running as a presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.
“I don’t know what five extra minutes can do? I am not sure it will make any difference, she said.
A sober speaking Dr Nduom at a media briefing on Tuesday, begged for a 5-minute time discussion with the EC boss to enable him rectify the anomaly identified in his nomination papers subsequently leading to his disqualification among 11 others.
‘We must put it on record that the PPP has over the years consistently called on the EC to be strengthened so that it can enforce political parties’ law… I am here to call on the EC specifically the returning officer for the presidential elections who happens to be the EC chairperson to allow me to meet with her to rectify any anomaly indentified in the nomination papers amicably, five minutes discussion with Mrs Charlotte Osei and I will be cleared to contest in this elections, five minutes will resolve the issue, ’ he appealed.
But Madam Charlotte Osei who is resolute in her decision, said she is rather prepared to meet the party in court if they feel unfairly treated.
