Wereko-Brobby Slams EC Over 105 PPP Errors

Policy Analyst, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, has described the Electoral Commission’s discovery of additional errors on the nomination forms of the presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) as worrying.

According to reports, hours after the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the EC’s suit challenging a High court ruling asking it to allow Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom to correct his nomination form errors, the mistakes which formed the basis for the disqualification of the latter mysteriously increased from 1 to 105.

The new discoveries by the commission, according to the former Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority (VRA) in a tweet on Tuesday is disturbing and a clear depiction of carelessness by the commission.

“[The EC] is admitting to its own sloppiness on the face of it re new PPP alleged infractions. Sad abuse of power,” tweeted Wereko-Brobby.

Meanwhile, the PPP says it is considering dragging the commission to the court today [Tuesday] over the new development.

The Supreme Court on Monday morning threw out the EC’s suit challenging the High court ruling asking them to allow Dr. Nduom to correct his nomination form errors.

A Seven-member panel on the Monday ruling asked the election management body to extend the nomination period to November 8, and allow the candidates to correct their mistakes in order to contest the polls.

The court also ordered the discontinuation of the various court cases regarding the disqualification of other presidential aspirants.
