We’re Ready To Defend Ghana If Duty Calls – Veteran Soldiers

Veteran soldiers who fought in World War I in 1918 are advising Ghanaian youth not to engage in any violent activities that will destabilized the country’s peace and security as Ghana prepares for the December 7 polls.

According to them, they are prepared to defend the peace in the country should duty demands stating that ‘once a soldier always a soldier’

They also want the security agencies in the country to act without fear or favor and deal ruthlessly with any individual or group of persons who will attempt to ferment trouble in the elections.

The retired soldiers say, they will disown their grandchildren and children who will be arrested for causing trouble in any of the election centers.

The gallant retirees urged the citizenry to tread with caution in their political activities as politicians intensify their campaigns with less than a month to the polls.

Ex-Corporal James Sefa who spoke with Ultimate News Isaac Bediako said “If you are my grandson or my son and go and fight and they arrest you on Election Day, I won’t come there. The best for you is to go and vote and come home and relax. Give peace a chance”, advised.

The experienced old soldiers who are mostly in their 70s say they are still strong enough to defend the country’s peace and security when the need arises.

Ex- Corporal James Sefa, a former section commander of the Ghana arm Forces emphasized that they are prepared to jack up in their uniforms and augment the security strength of the country ahead and during the polls.

“I can still hold and display with weapons being it MG or AK47. If they give me one now I can clear all of you here. Rely on us if our services are required. We are strong in all aspects”, he stated.
