One of the Lawyers of the two radio panelists, incarcerated in the infamous ‘Montie 3’ contempt case, George Loh has revealed that they are happy they have the contemnors back.
The Montie three including Salifu Maase, Alistair Nelson, Ako Gunn who were jailed four months for contempt left the prison Friday morning after serving just one month of their four-month jail term.
Their release comes after President John Mahama granted them a pardon upon the advice of the Council of State.
The move, has however, been met with heavy criticisms with many accusing the Council of State of endorsing recklessness.
Speaking Friday at the forecourt of Accra based Radio Gold upon their [Montie 3] arrival; Mr. Loh revealed that the feeling is that of excitement saying “we’re happy to have our brothers back.”
He said the contemnors left the prison very early today [Friday] because they didn’t want the pomp and pageantry.
He said people were advised not to jubilate the release of the three because they were not happy with the venom that was spewed by them.
He said henceforth, the management of the station will make sure that such “unguarded” statements will not be repeated on their network and that “it is a lesson learning process rather than a process where we should be proud of.”
“So clearly, we don’t want to overly send a signal that it is victory for the things that has happened. If it is victory at all, then it is victory that they have gone through a democratic process to get them pardoned,” he added.
