The traditional ruler of Krachi in the Volta region, Krachiwura Nana Mpra Besemuna III, has assured President John Mahama of a massive vote from his subjects on December 7, 2016.
According to the chief, his area has witnessed “unprecedented development” under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration and the best way to thank the government is to give Mahama a second term.
“We wish to assure him that we in this area are very much happy with his performance, especially with his numerous developmental projects that have been given to us under his administration,” Nana Besemuna III, who doubles as the president of the Krachi Traditional Council, told the gathering at the Yam Festival over the weekend.
“To us simple rural folks, the essence of governance are development in areas that enhance our socio-economic life, we thank you for our fair share of the national cake,” the chief added.
“We assure you that on December 7 we shall express our gratitude to you. After all, it is said the devil you know is better than the angel you do not know… after all, who will release a bird in hand in the hope that he will get two in the bush,” Nana Besemuna III opined.
President Mahama is seeking a second term in office in a close contest with rival Nana Akufo-Addo of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The NDC flagbearer could become the first one-term president under the Fourth Republic if he loses to the NPP leader, while the latter could be the longest opposition leader if he fails to win in the seventh election under the Republic.
The election is scheduled to take place on December 7 with 17 individuals and political parties contesting the presidential slot.
