Owner of Elmina Sharks, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has assured fans and the general public that immediate renovation works will be done on the collapsed roofing at the newly constructed sports complex in Elmina, in the Central Region.
The stadium that houses Elmina Sharks had its roofs ripped-off after a heavy storm hit the stadium moments after the club’s week 11 Ghana Premier League fixture with West African Football Academy (WAFA) on Sunday.
Though Elmina Sharks lost to the league leaders- WAFA- by 2-1, club bankroller, Dr. Nduom was grateful that no casualties were recorded after the disaster.
With a guiding principle in ensuring the safety of the fans, Dr. Nduom however, assured fans of immediate repair works to get the stadium back.
“We are lucky for and I am grateful for that. Technical people have been assembled to determine why the roof and all the trusses could be blown away like that. We will ensure that end up with the best solution,” Dr. Nduom assured the general public in a Facebook post.
The 20,000-seater stadium situated in Elmina was commissioned in February2017 after three years of construction.
Elmina Sharks will however, travel to Accra on Sunday to face Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium next weekend.
