President John Dramani Mahama has promised the people of Gomoa in the Central Region that government will address the havoc visited by the sea.
Several homes, fishing boats, and other properties were ruined by ocean tides along several coastal towns across the country. Jamestown in Accra, Keta in the Volta Region, and Gomoa were some of the worst affected areas.
President Mahama said he received information that the sea had destroyed many items and had even swept away some of the outboard motors distributed by government to fishermen in the area not long ago.
He told the Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Akyeampim Traditional Area, Obirefo Ehunako Ahor Ankobea III, that he was saddened by the news.
He has, therefore, “instructed the Ministry of Fisheries to send officials to come and inspect as well as estimate the extent of damage. I assure you that we will see to it that the destroyed items are taken care of”.
This was when he paid a courtesy call on the chief at Gomoa Nyanyano during his five-day campaign tour of the region on Saturday September 10.
