National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has lambasted the Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Obiri Boahen following the press conference he addressed yesterday [Thursday].
Mr. Boahen justified why the attacks has repeated itself noting that the NDC do not have the moral right to complain over the attacks.
But Kofi Adams described the justification by the NPP as useless, irresponsible, reckless and disguising.
Mr. Boahen in his address yesterday slammed the NDC and hinted, they [NPP] will match the NDC boot for boot if they don’t stop pressuring the president over the attacks.
“As for Kofi Portuphy, Asiedu Nketia and Koku Anyidoho and their gang, we shall caution that from now on, if they throw mud on the president in whom we unprecedentedly, overwhelmingly, majority Ghanaians reposed their confidence in, we will pay them back in equal measure. Enough is enough; the rains must fall on their ravings and ranting…The NDC indeed wants the nation to show respect to former President Mahama and so they, must also show respect to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he said.
But responding to the comments on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm, Kofi Adams said, the president was not elected as president for the NPP but the Republic of Ghana.
Nana Addo he stressed, must condemn the attacks and until he calls his men to order, they will ‘’continue to call on him to ensure that he works as president for Ghana and not NPP. We cannot continue to sit down, fold our hands and allow the attacks to go on.’’
He added, ‘’the comments made by Obiri Boahen was irresponsible, reckless and a useless justification. Who should we blame? Is Nana Addo not the president of Ghana? He is the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. He is the President and the only one who can protect us and so we will continue to call on him to condemn the attacks. We are not asking him to condemn the attacks as a flagbearer but a president. Whatever that happens in Ghana regarding security, falls within his domain as president and he must be answerable to Ghanaians. So we will mount the pressure on him.’’
