A Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba says the situation we find ourselves in as a country today, is dangerous hence, there is an urgent need for the president to take immediate steps to deal with the lawlessness ongoing in the country.
He said, President Nana Akufo-Addo should do us the favour that would allow the various security services deal with these unlawful and unrecognized vigilante groups terrorizing innocent people in the country.
He was responding to the attack on the Kumasi Circuit Court by the Delta Force group on Thursday.
The Delta Force members stormed a Kumasi Circuit Court where 13 other members were standing trail for allegedly harassing the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.
Joshua Hamidu Akamba condemned the attack and expressed worry over the issue since the attack in his view, was a slap on the face of the judiciary. He also lambasted maverick legislator Kennedy Agyapong who in a recent interview said the forces were sponsored and formed to help the party.
‘’We are in a terrible situation in this country and if we are not careful, we will witness an unprecedented robbery attacks in Ghana. Until the president comes out and disassociates the NPP from these forces, we will witness more attacks. Nana Addo must come and tell Ghanaians that from today, we no longer recognize the Delta Force and Invincible Force.
He added: ‘’I am happy that the NDC does not recognize such groups. This is total disrespect to the president because after he assured the Asantehene of dealing with the lawlessness irrespective the political colour, then few days later, you have the Delta Force attack a court. Ghana is sitting on a time bomb and that is why we need to be very careful. What can save the situation is President Akufo-Addo to come out and condemn and disassociate itself from the forces.’’
He reiterated that, ”the IGP should not blamed, the National Security Coordinator should not be blamed, the Minister of Interior should not be blamed, that honors lies on one person and that person is His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo; who should disassociate himself from these groups or we will witness worse things.”
