The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says there are some persons scheming to rig results of the 2016 general elections.
But “the NPP will not accept any results that will seem to be a rigged result”.
This is a “serious” position by the largest opposition party, says Member of Parliament for Effutu Alexander Afenyo-Markin on TV3’s New Day on Monday, November 14.
“We are wide awake. We will not accept any results that will be seen as a rigged result,” he stressed.
When pushed further by moderator Bright Nana Amfoh, the private legal practitioner added: “This is a serious position of the NPP and if you are not comfortable with that, you should advise your strategist who intend on paying monies to people to change figures.”
He made reference to a recent President John Dramani Mahama remark, which committed to accepting the election results, as a decoy to doing something untoward.
“We will accept genuine results. We will not accept cooked results”.
This remark by the NPP MP takes a similar turn as US President-elect Donald Trump’s stance to reject results of the election if it went the other way.
Prior to the November 8 polls, Trump accused the system including the Barack Obama-led government of scheming to let Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton win the polls.
