The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is not under pressure to launch its manifesto.
The party’s campaign spokesperson, Joyce Bawa-Mogtari in an interview said the party will not succumb to what she describes as “unnecessary pressure” to launch its manifesto but will do so when it is ready.
“Every political party in the country has the right to bring forward its manifesto for the public to know their policies and for us (NDC) our manifesto has been ready for a very long time and will not launch it because of pressure. We are launching it because it is ready,” she asserted.
There have been criticisms from various quarters over the delay in the release of a manifesto by the two major political parties.
The NDC has set Saturday, September 17, for the launch of its much awaited manifesto in Sunyani, the capital of the Brong Ahafo Region.
However, Mrs. Bawa-Mogtari who is also the Deputy Transport Minister opined that whatever the NDC does is based on strategy as well as tact and therefore their manifesto will be providing Ghanaians a semblance of what to expect in the second and final term of President Mahama.
She indicated that even before the party launches the policy statement, some highlights will be released on 13 September, a day after the Muslim holiday.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party has also set September for its campaign launch.
Mr Mustapha Hamid, spokesperson for the NPP’s flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo said the manifesto will be centered on the one- factory-per-district and one-dam-per-village policies by the presidential nominee.
