Defending Ghana Premier League Champions, Wa All Stars, beat Liberian side, Barrack Young Controllers, to win bronze at the West African Football Union (WAFU) invitational tournament in Dakar, Senegal.
The Wa-based side played the third playoff game after being hammered by Ivory Coast champions, AS Tanda, in the semi-final earlier last week.
The 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Ivoirians however, did not deter the Ghanaian league champions even though BYC went ahead through Van-Dave Harmon.
The Liberian side, who surprisingly knocked Kumasi Asante Kotoko out of the CAF Champions League in 2014, got the equaliser in the second half through David Tweh’s strike after clever play from Sam Jackson.
But Wa All Stars got the winner late in the second half to claim third place before they return to Ghana to honour their outstanding match week 9 GPL fixture against Aduana Stars.
The four-team tournament which also featured US Goree from Senegal was sponsored by FOX Sports TV Network of Los Angeles, United States.
