Hundreds of voters have been left stranded in the Jaman North constituency following a delay in the deployment of voting materials to the polling stations.
Voting was supposed to commence at 7am across the country but as of 11am, no voting material had been brought to any of the polling stations. This was because executives of the National Democratic Congress in the constituency alleged that the voters register was bloated and had about 30 names of unknown persons.
The NDC therefore prevented the polling materials to be deployed. Meanwhile hundreds of voters have been in queues from as early as 11pm from the previous night.
They have been complaining about the development but say they would keep waiting to cast their ballot.
Following the development, a District Security meeting between electoral commission officials, the political parties and security services in the district are in a crunch meeting to try to resolve the development.
