Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is scheduled to leave Accra on Thursday night for the Mauritian capital of Port Louis, where he is expected to be the Special Guest for the island nation’s 49th independence anniversary celebrations.
Mauritius marks its 49th independence and 25th Republic Day – National Day celebrations – on Sunday, March 12.
A statement from the presidency on Thursday said Vice President Bawumia will hold bilateral talks with Mauritius President Ameenah Gurib and Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth as well as other Mauritian government officials while in the East African nation.
The talks will be aimed at strengthening ties between Mauritius and Ghana.
“Dr Bawumia will also attend a Breakfast Business Meeting hosted by the Mauritian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, in Collaboration with the Board of Investment.”
The Vice President’s delegation will be made up of 22 government officials including Minister for Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Business Development Ibrahim Awal and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Reginald Grant.
He is expected back home on Monday, March 13.
