Veronica Narkwor Kwabla, formerly of TV3 Network Limited, has won the Health and Medical Award at the 2016 CNN Multichoice African Journalist Awards for her comprehensive report on the deadly Ebola virus.
She is among 17 lucky winners in this year’s awards which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday night.
The organisers of the awards tweeted “Well Done! Veronica Narkwor Kwabla, for winning the Health & Medical Award earlier #AfricanJournoAwards”.
Narkwor, a former anchor, reporter and producer at TV3, was the only Ghanaian whose work was shortlisted out of over 1,600 entries from 38 countries across the continent including French and Portuguese speaking countries.
This award adds to several honours both domestically and internationally that she has won. Narkwor who is currently a Senior Journalist at Congo-based Africanews is a finalist of the Mohamed Amin Africa Media Awards: Best Newscast Category and a recipient of the Best TV Feature Story Award from the Ghana Journalists Awards in 2014.
Meanwhile, Kenya Television Network’s Asha Mwilu and cameraman Rashid Idi were crowned overall winners of the CNN Multichoice African Journalist of the Year Awards 2016 among 38 finalists.
