Just one year after winning the flagship club competition on the continent, DR Congo’s TP Mazembe have won the CAF Confederation Cup.
They beat Algerian side MO Bejaia 4-1 on Sunday, November 6 to emerge 5-2 aggregate winners of the second-tier club competition.
After a 2-0 first half in Lubumbashi, the dream to complete the reverse double saw them adding one more.
Though MO Bejaia got a consolation, Jonathan Bolingi’s final strike put the game beyond the North Africans.
This year’s finalists were coincidentally in the same group with Ghana’s Medeama SC, who missed the semi-finals to the losing finalists on head-to-head.
By the latest win, Mazembe owned by Congolese politician-cum-business magnate Moise Katumbi will play South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Super Cup next year.
