Thomas Partey’s message is right in time to melt the hearts of thousands of Ghanaians around the world who are totally pissed off by the Black Stars AFCON defeat.
Atletico Madrid and Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey has taken his time to pen down a touching letter to all Ghanaians as regards the just concluded African Cup of Nations qualifier in which Ghana finished fourth place.
The Black Stars who has so much lost fan support in recent times following their various unacceptable attitudes, especially that of last World Cup tournament, expressed much confidence in ceasing the AFCON 2017 tournament as an opportunity to bring back smiles to the faces of Ghanaians.
The team practically raised the hopes of Ghanaians when they beat DR Congo to make it to the semi-final stage of the games.
However, the hopes of Ghanaians was once more smashed as it had been for the last 35 years, when Cameroon beat Ghana to snatch the place for the finals.
Worse still, the disappointment seem to have sublimed to a state of burning fury when the Black Stars still lost the third place finish to Burkina Faso.

Nevertheless, Thomas Partey’s message is here to serve as a coolant to several Ghanaian hearts burning with fury over Ghana’s AFCON defeat which many have described and criticized the best way they deemed it fit – sheer carelessness, poor skills, bad luck, witch hunt, and what have you!
In the message which Partey shared on his Instagram page, the midfielder pleaded with Ghanaians to forgive the national team for their failure to lift the prestigious Cup of Nations despite the massive support they received from across the globe. It was the dream and wish of all Ghanaians to win the prestigious cup of AFCON 2017 but unfortunately we couldn’t attain that goal . We are sorry for disappointing all Ghanaians around the world who have given us the massive support and rallied behind us since day 1.
Nevertheless all I can say is a big thank you to Ghana for giving me this opportunity to serve my beloved country.
All is not lost and we hope to come back strongly the next time and bring joy to the faces of all Ghanaians.
Thomas Partey currently plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid as a defensive midfielder. He was called up for the first time to the Ghana national team by coach Avram Grant, ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifier match against Mauritius. Partey played five out of Ghana’s six games in the AFCON 2017 tournament.
