The former MP for Ablekuma North, Justice Joe Appiah has strongly condemned the menacing behavior of Delta Force, a pro-government vigilante group, calling them a “foolish force”.
Justice Appiah who was in parliament on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party, asserted that each member of the NPP played an important role no matter how small it was, in ensuring that the party assumed the reign of this country. It would be a total absurdity for an individual or a group to claim that they worked the most in bringing the party to power, he said.
“Who are they, they are foolish forces, I will say it over and over. What wisdom is in attacking persons appointed by the same man they have helped to come to power? If they go round attacking such people, are they not by that action disrespecting the President? Such a foolish force, giving arsenals to the NDC to use against us” Joe Appiah exploded on Onua FM morning show on Tuesday.
The former MP also wondered the thinking that went into the reshuffling of COP Kofi Boakye as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, that brought him to Accra to be in office for “these foolish forces” to exhibit such open disrespect for President Nana Akufo-Addo.
He was confident if Kofi Boakye was still at post in the Ashanti region, “who born dog, for these forces to do that, they dare not; he doesn’t care your party affiliation, he will arrest you if you break the law. Did he not arrest Kofi Jumah? So this is a problem that politicians must deal with? Let us allow people who are doing the job do it without interference.”
The vigilante group gained notoriety when it members forcibly ejected the president’s appointee as the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator from his office last month just because he was not their preferred choice.
When 13 members of the group were put before court for their involvement in the violent action, other members stormed the court premises and aided them to escape, the 13 later handed themselves to the police after warrant was issued for their arrest.
