DETAILS have now emerged as to the motive behind last week’s Tuesday clash at Ga Mantse Palace in the Greater Accra Region when two claimants to the stool clashed.
Three men were reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries with one said to have had his right hand chopped off.
And following that unfortunate development the Ga Traditional Council described the day as a “black day in the history of the Ga state.”
Last Tuesday’s incident brought business activities in the area to a halt, with employees and business owners abandoning their shops for fear of being hit by stray bullets.
According to reports, a group of armed macho men invaded the premises of the Ga Mantse Palace to disrupt an ongoing ceremony to install the new Ga Mantse, Nii Adama Latse, following an order by an Accra High Court on Nii Latse’s behalf.
Presently, there is heavy security at the Ga Mantse Palace to forestall a possible clash as two factions Tackie Adama Latse and Tackie Teiko Truru lay claim to the stool.
According to Today sources, the “powerhouse” of the Ga kingdom has been locked up and was under police protection till calm returns to the State.
Before the dastardly act on Tuesday, Today learnt that some irritate youth on Monday, January 23, 2017 broke into the Stool House of Ga Mantse at Abola in Accra and locked up the traditional house.
Our source said the irate youth evacuated all properties belonging to embattled Adama Latse II from the house and locked the room.
GTC had challenged the capacity of self-acclaimed acting Ga Dzasetse, Nii Yartey Ga, who attempted to induct Nii Adama Latse ll as Ga Mantse. The GTC has thus accused Nii Yartey Ga of contributing to the confusion which rocked the Mantse Palace last week.
GTC also rejected a plea by Nii Yartey Ga to have Nii Adama Latse ll inducted into the membership of the GTC as its President because of the number of cases against the said claimant.
Nii Yartey Otto Ga, on the other hand had filed a mandamus against GTC to compel the GTC to induct Nii Adama Latse into its fold as Ga Mantse.
The request was granted by Justice Mrs. Deaychem who gave a 7-day order to have Nii Adama Latse ll inducted into the GTC as Ga Mantse in spite of the weight of evidence of the case below:
Contempt Suit No. AP/128/2011, The Republic vrs George Tackie, aka Nii Tackie, which case is pending before the Appeal Court Accra.

George Tackie, Abia aka King Tackie Adama Latse II, interested party, which ruling/judgment was held on 31st of May, 2016 and is presently on Appeal.
Based on the above evidence, GTC filed a notice of appeal and served a motion for an order of stay of execution pending appeal.
This was enough to stop Nii Adama Latse ll but sources said he defiled the orders and decided to announce his intension to hold an induction without the Chiefs and officials of the GTC.
This move sparked the Asafo and some youth who swore not to allow the neither NDC nor the court to install a Mantse for the Ga People.
The Asafo and the youth group then moved to the palace to prepare the place for the arrival of the remains of King Tackie Tawiah lll who died abroad couple of years ago.
While they were there Adama Latse, Nii Armakine and Nii Yartey Otto Ga went into bring also stormed the Manste with some thugs that compelled the police who fired live ammunition and sprayed hot water on the Asafo and the youth.
