The Electoral Commission on Friday December 9 announced flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, winner of the general elections held on December 7.
The NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won 53.85% of votes cast while the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama managed to garner just 44.40% of the total votes – Making John Dramani Mahama the only sitting president to lose an election under the Fourth Republic.
The development has left many asking what could have possibly gone wrong for John Mahama and the NDC given the sudden switch from what existed some four years ago.
While members of the outgoing NDC government continue to level accusations against one another over who is to blame for the party’s defeat in the just ended polls, GhanaWeb takes a look at the utterances of some key personalities that possibly contributed to the defeat of the ‘umbrella’ party on December 7.
This is the first of a two-part series on the top ten comments that led to the fall of Mahama.
