Tension is reportedly brewing at Ghana’s High Commission in the United Kingdom following the High Commissioner’s decision to abandon his post to seek his political interest in Ghana, StarrFMonline.com has learnt.
Sources at the High Commission have told StarrFMonline.com that several activities and programmes at the Mission have stalled due to the unavailability of the High Commissioner Victor Smith.
“There are many documents that need to be signed, but we cannot sign them because the High Commissioner is not there. He has been away for quite some time now but we are afraid to complain.
“There are still upcoming events and programmes to be done with our British counterparts here, but all that have been put on hold because the leader is not here and in diplomatic circles not everything can be done by a subordinate,” a worried staff at the High Commission told StarrFMonline.com.
Mr. Smith is contesting the Abuakwa North seat on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). This is the second time he is eyeing the seat, having lost in 2012 to the late Joseph Boakye Danquah of the main opposition New Patriotic Party.
The Abuakwa North constituency in the Eastern region has traditionally become a safe seat for the opposition party.
Several attempts to reach Mr. Smith over the issue failed as his known contacts are not going through.
