IN what earlier looked like a tussle between thirteen candidates who provided their names for the position as Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, the tension seems to have died.
In a random interview conducted by Today among some residents of Tema and New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives within the three constituencies in the Tema metropolis, the name of Benjamin Ashitey Amarh seems to have been resonating with the grassroots.
Most of the residents and members of the NPP called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint Mr. Amah as the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tema.
According to them, having heard of the exploits made by the young businessman and how fast he has risen and performed creditably in his business and profession, it would be great to have him as MCE.
They pointed out that Mr. Armah played a major and active role in campaigning for the NPP’s victory in the 2016 general election.
Mr. Armah, who hails from Tema Manhean, started climbing the academic ladder by enrolling at Takoradi Polytechnic for a 3-year higher national diploma in marketing.
He obtained a certificate in Logistics and Transport from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport-UK, before going on to pursue an MBA in Strategic and Project Management with Paris Graduate School of Management.
Mr. Armah took a bold step in 2015 to upgrade himself by enrolling at Texila American University for a PhD in Management (International Business option).
As industrious as he is and a hardworking gentleman, Benjamin Ashitey Armah has a vast working experience, especially in the private sector, which is regarded as the engine for economic growth.
He worked with intermodal shipping agency, Ghana Limited (ISAG/ZIM Ghana) as a marketing executive, Takoradi branch manager and later rode through the ranks to become the deputy managing director.
He led and executed many projects successfully for the company including the establishment of the Takoradi office branch, a container terminal in Tema, and played an active role in the establishment of the Burkina Faso office and also bringing overseas commerce to Ghana.
He served as the senior staff union chairman of ISAG/ZIM Ghana, Manhean TMA School Management Committee chairman and a fellow of the Ghana Institute of Loans and Risk Management.
Mr. Armah is currently the Operations Manager of Overseas Commerce Ghana, a subsidiary of Overseas Commerce Israel.
