The Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has questioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia about where the NPP burnt the old cedis after the re-denomination exercise.
Speaking at the campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDCs) for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Adams Nuhu, the firebrand politician said his sources tell him the NPP did not burn the old currency but kept it and exchanged it with the new cedis when it came into fruition. Mr. Jacobs admonished electorates to question the NPP and its assigns where the old cedis were burnt.
He alleged that the party kept the old notes at Nsawam and took the opportunity after the introduction of the new cedis to change the old one and use it for political party campaign. ”President Mahama recently challenged Dr. Bawumia to disclose the cost of the re-denomination exercise.
What I [Allotey Jacobs] is adding to the call is for Bawumia to disclose where they burnt the old cedis. I am telling you that, they [NPP] kept the money at Nsawam, later changed it with the new currency which they used for their campaign. God has exposed them.” The parliamentary candidate for the constituency Hon. Adams Nuhu also said the NDC has an agenda to beat the NPP with a ten thousand vote gap.
