A 57 year-old teacher in Bimbilla in the Nanumba North district of the Northern Region, Tia Musah David, is in the grips of the police for allegedly beating his wife to death.
The incident reportedly occurred during a misunderstanding between the two which resulted in the unfortunate death of the woman.
In an interview with Citi News, the crime officer at the Bimbilla district police, DSP Ebenezer Kusi-Preprah said the family had wanted to conceal the incident which happened on Monday, January 30, 2017 but a whistle blower informed the Police about it.
He said the police subsequently arrested the suspect and the body of the deceased has been sent to the Bimbilla hospital for autopsy.
The suspect according to DSP Peprah will be arraigned soon while investigations continue.
“….On the 30th of January, 2017, a whistle-blower informed the police command in Bimbilla that one Tia Musah David, age 57, a teacher at Kasimiah English Arabic primary school in Bimbilla had a quarrel with his wife Janet Kofi 39 in their home at Madina, a suburb of Bimbilla, that the suspect beat her up till she collapsed and died on arrival at the Bimbilla government hospital. The body was deposited at the hospital mortuary and family was trying to conceal the crime.”
“Police proceeded to house….and arrested Tia Musah David. The police also visited the mortuary where the body was deposited with marks of assault on the back and photographs were taken for evidential purposes,” he added.
