PROPERTIES running into thousands of Ghana cedis have been destroyed in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Dormaa Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region following a storm that hit the community late night at the weekend.
Over two hundred houses have been destroyed in the process with many putting up with friends and relatives in nearby communities. The affected persons therefore called on authorities to come to their aid.
Worse hit areas included SS, SDA Mu and Aben Wo Aha SDA Primary. These areas had its building destroyed.
SDA Church and Methodist Church were also not spared.
Apart from this, individual homes also went down in the process. Eleven people got injured and were treated at the hospital and discharged.
Minister of Health and Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has toured areas in his constituency which were hit by the storm over the weekend to access the extent of damage.
Mr. Agyemang Manu speaking to media said he was devastated when he toured some of the affected places.
“I was devastated when I went round and saw the extent of damage. I have to go on radio stations to calm the nerves that had their properties destroyed.”
He gave the assurance that the medical bills of people who got injured in the process would be taken care of.
