The leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cautioned against appointees of the Akufo-Addo government showing off appointments on social media platforms upon receipt of their letters.
Such trend, according to the Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu is putting undue pressure on the party and the President in the ongoing appointments being made by Mr. Akufo-Addo.
“…It’s becoming difficult for some of us helping to manage the party and government. This craze of people receiving their appointment letter and some few seconds is on Facebook, that is putting a lot of pressure on those who have not gotten appointment and it is making people excessively lobby,” Boadu said on State of Affairs programme on GH One TV Monday.
There have been unease among members of the NPP when some people started announcing appointments on Facebook, forging appointment letters and dispatching people to state institutions on behalf of the President without his knowledge and authority.
Ex-NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, was reported to have been penciled for a vacant post of the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Habour (GPHA).
The Office of the President, subsequently denied the report and till date it remains a mystery how that information was planted in the public domain and picked up by the media.
Commenting on this, Mr. Boadu said:”There hasn’t been any appointment letter given to anybody that has been reversed.”
According to him, the advent of various social media platforms makes it easier for people to concoct stories and forge all manner of information, but said such persons must be mindful of the consequences of the act and put a stop to it.
