The Special Voting Exercise which was afflicted with missing names and other irregularities today is set to continue on Sunday December 4, to allow disenfranchised special voters to vote, StarrFMonline.com has learnt.
The continuation was decided after the Electoral Commission met representatives of the political parties in an emergency meeting Thursday.
Today’s exercise registered several mishaps with many security officials being unable to trace their names in the list submitted to the designated polling centres by the commission.
The EC had earlier claimed they were not to blame for the failures.
The main elections will be on December 7, where a president and parliamentarians will be elected.
Special voting is a special dispensation under the electoral laws that allows registered voters who will not be able to present themselves at their polling stations on voting day as a result of the roles they will play in the elections to vote on a date before the rest of the electorate vote on the date set for the elections.
The category of people who are allowed to do special voting are security personnel, officials of the EC and journalists.
