National Nassara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kamal-Deen Abdulai has asked President John Dramani Mahama to speak to facts and avoid speculations when addressing issues in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
President John Mahama has said that Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will never be given the opportunity to lead the party “should anything happen” because he is a northerner. According to Mr Mahama, the NPP also discriminates against persons who are not Akans.
But Kamal-Deen has expressed surprise at President Mahama’s comments, saying the NDC party is the prime culprit in the matter of discrimination.
The Nassara coordinator buttressing his point noted that during one of NDC’s campaigns in Cape Coast, President Mahama failed to introduce his Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur to the supporters even though he has also embarked on a lot of campaign tours.
“I have not seen any billboard showcasing Mahama and his Vice. I only see Mahama and his wife. Earlier in Cape-Coast, the president introduced party executives to the crowd leaving out (Vice President) Amissah-Arthur. Can we the NPP or Ghanaians say the NDC does not like a particular tribe…,? Or Prez Mahama has made his wife vice president” he quizzed.
He indicated that there are about 48 tribes and the NPP has never been biased towards any tribes when it comes to leadership.
“We are very discerning and we live above pettiness. We talk about issues that concern our better living. We are not talking about tribes here. We, the NPP, are above that” he said on Accra based Okay FM.
