The Yendi Circuit Court presided over by his Honour Twumasi Appiah has remanded into prison custody suspect Alhassan Abubakar, charged with the sodomy of three foster children in the Dangbe community of the Nanumba-North District of the Northern Region.
Alhassan Abubakar, 65, a Fulani who lives with the boys at his rented residence in Dangbe, is scheduled to re-appear in court on January 5, 2017.
He pleaded not guilty to the defilement charge levelled against him, revealing that one Awal Iddrisu made the false allegation against him after a misunderstanding between them.
His Honour Twumasi Appiah advised the prosecutor to change the charge from defilement to unnatural canal knowledge of minors after hearing the case and made a subsequent rule of remand.
Justice Twumasi Appiah also requested that the boys be tested for sexually transmitted infections led by a social welfare officer.
He also requested that a social investigation be done on the three boys, two of whom are siblings who hail from Makayili and Walewale in the Northern Region.
