The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker has laid blame at the doorsteps of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for all the troubles that have beset the opposition party.
“I am saying this factually; Sir John left the affairs of the party he claims he belonged to and concentrated all his efforts on the National Democratic Party (NDP) during its campaign launch in 2012. He was the organiser for Mrs Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ (leader of the NDP) campaign launch, and as well became the campaign manager for the party” he said while contributing to a panel discussion on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma, Tuesday.
Commenting on the reimbursement of money to customers of DKM, Ade Coker said Ghanaians need to appreciate government for coming out with such a bailout and asked the customers to accept whichever amount they are given.
“Monies being given to the DKM customers is a government bailout … it is not from the company’s assets… it is a social intervention so they should relax and take whatever they are given for now”.
He further pointed out that “I am not surprised managers of DKM microfinance company are now parliamentary candidates on behalf of the NPP in the Brong Ahafo Region because they [members of the NPP] led managers and customers of the firm to protest against government and also pretend as if they are men of God who would lead them to heaven. These acts of theirs have made the DKM managers of the Brong Ahafo now members of the NPP”.
Interestingly, Sir John who was also on the same programme refused to either deny or confirm Ade Coker’s allegation that he was the campaign manager for Nana Konadu during the 2012 election.
