Fulanis in the Northern Region have thrown their weight behind the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to enhance his chance of winning the presidential election on December 7.
According to them, they assisted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win power in 2012 and have decided to direct their focus on the NPP this time round.
They indicated that the decision had been taken based on motivation by Samira Bawumia, wife of the vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. By their judgement, they claim the NDC told them lies prior to the 2012 elections, adding that they have now realized the truth.
This development happened at the campaign launch of the NPP parliamentary candidate for Tamale North Constituency, Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed.
Speaking to the media, the Chairman of the Fulani Community in the Northern Region, Eliasu Dauda, said it was the NDC that made them (Fulanis) realize what voting is about after the party had registered them.
He alleged that the NDC told them that if they voted for the NPP to come into power, they would be sacked from the region.
According to Mr Eliasu Dauda, as long as their sister, mother and friend (Hajia Samira Bawumia) is involved, they will vote for the NPP.
He stated that women have their children at heart and urged the people of the Tamale North Constituency to vote Hajia Kulsumi to become their Member of Parliament on December 7.
Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed also urged the electorate to vote massively for her and the NPP to bring transformation into their lives.
She asserted that she is the only surviving female candidate in Tamale, indicating that she would be a mother for all.
