With appointments of several persons to work in the new Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government underway, competition is rife as key New Patriotic Party (NPP) members lobby for the position of mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
Names that have come out for the KMA position, Today’s investigations have uncovered, include the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Osei Asibey Antwi, Mr. Samuel Pyne, Regional NPP Secretary, Mr. Kusi Boakye, a businessman, and Dr. Osei Bobie, a senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Amongst these, information available to Today further showed that Mr. Osei Asibey was tipped to be the next KMA mayor.
Meanwhile, some party members in the region were seriously lobbying for Mr. Samuel Pyne.
According to them, Mr. Pyne’s contribution to the party’s victory in last year’s general elections was marvelous.
