A project initiated by erstwhile Jerry John Rawlings regime in 1996 to serve as the Salaga Technical Institute is currently rotting away as residents continue to travel to other areas in search of technical education.
The residents are lamenting over the abandoned Technical Institute considering the important role it would have played if it had been completed and begun full operations
The project which started in 1996 by Kamara Limited under the Jerry John Rawlings NDC administration has not seen further developments by successive governments
In an interview with some residents, they expressed worry over the inability of the contractor and successive governments to complete the project which is dear to the hearts of the people.
“It is about 21 years now and the project is still there. It keeps deteriorating each passing day and it will require more money to do other repair works” one of them fumed.
They said the project has since been handed over to La Francaise Company Limited and the place is still there like that. “They only came to lie to us during elections 2016 and since then we haven’t heard from them”.
Residents are therefore appealing to Nana Akufo- Addo to use his office see to the completion of the project as Technical Education is necessary.
