The Rotaract clubs of Umat, Takoradi and UCC as part of their Anniversary embarked on a blood donation exercise at the University Of Cape Coast in the central region.
The exercise was organized to secure blood for the national blood bank as well as to demonstrate their commitment to supporting society.
In an interview with our news team/ GN media, Mr. David A. Baganiah the Rotaract president of UCC said the main focus of the exercise was to save lives and to serve the society which demonstrates their humanitarianism.
According to him, donating blood has important benefits. Scientifically, it helps reduce iron levels in individuals which avoids cancer and reduce risk of hemochromatosis
He also said donating blood also serves as a life insurance for donors because donors are provided with donor cards to secure them for emergency situations when blood is needed.
Finally, Mr. Baganiah advised the youth to engage in humanitarian services and contribute their time and effort to serve our society.
The Rotaract president of Umat, Mr. Daniel Sagoe, also in an interview with our news team media said their main priority was to serve humanity by reaching out to under privileged people in the society.
