There is fear and panic among residents of Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo Region following an alleged ritual murder of a woman on the dawn of Friday, March 24, 2017.
The body of the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was found in a pool of blood on Friday morning at Wenchi Taxi Station near Wenchi Post Office after a heavy downpour for which the left side of her breast and ear were cut-off from her body by the unknown persons.
Some of the residents have asserted that the unidentified young lady might have been sexually assaulted before being killed by her assailants. “The fact that the breast and ear were removed from her body indicates that she was killed for ritual purposes,” the residents declared, noting that the assailants have taken advantage of the heavy downpour to murder the young lady who is non-citizen of Wenchi.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital morgue, Today has learnt. According to an eyewitness, who mentioned his name as Akokoraba Oduro, the situation has caused fear and panic among the residents, particularly non-indigenes, who live and work in the town. He noted that the visibly worried residents have therefore appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous crime. “We think that killing of a human being in such a manner is quite serious and calls for urgent investigations in this area,” the residents told Today.
Today further gathered that the Wenchi District Police Command is working fervently to arrest the killers. The senior police officers at Wenchi District Police Command who conveyed the dead body of the young lady to the morgue confirmed the incident to journalists and indicated that on Friday two persons reported the matter to the police. The police officers disclosed that the two persons claimed they saw a lady murdered at the taxi station lying in pool of blood. “We quickly rushed to the scene and found the body which was later conveyed to the morgue, the police officers told journalists.
