Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has advices supporters of the NDC to beware of deliberate provocations instigated by the NPP with just few days to the elections and resist any temptation.
According to him, such unruly behavior has been instigated to stoke violence should the NDC react with the aim of winning sympathy votes as defeat stares at the party.
The Chief of Staff who was addressing nursing trainees at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on Wednesday night commended those who remained disciplined for their appreciation of President MAHAMA’s vision for the health sector and the numerous job openings as more projects get completed.
He was reacting to the orchestration by a group of NPP students who lined up in one of the hostels and shouted slogans in an attempt to disrupt the programme.
“When NPP comes to host a program here, please be respectful to them.” He ended his statement amidst applause from the students gathered.
Reports say prior to the arrival of the Chief of Staff”s delegation some NPP activists who got wind of the programme went to mobilise the students to gather in one of the hostels overlooking the venue to disrupt it.
Some of their colleagues felt embarrassed especially because of the lack of respect for the Chief of Staff, the Ashanti regional Minister, Alexander Ackon and other high profile dignitaries and party officials who took turns to address the students.
“It’s a shame. We saw their party pickups on campus and hey we’re speaking to know NPP activists ahead of your arrival. We could have confronted them. This is a big disgrace to the Matron and the entire student body. They can do their politics but not Try to disrupt an organised programme. Such attitudes don’t win votes but rather annoy people and draw them away from that party” ..Jenifer an angry student lamented.
Mr Debrah was particularly grateful that in spite of the instigated unruly behaviour, the programme went in successfully.
Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, who is the deputy Greater Accra Youth ORGANIZER of the NDC made reference to some key projects in the region in his presentation and said those were guarantees of a better future to the stolid Ets than allowances which would be spent leaving very little for investments in physical structures in the sector.
Mr Tamakloe whose address drew spontaneous applause mentioned the ongoing Kumasi Military hospital, the Ashanti regional hospital at Sewua, district hospitals at KONONGO, Kumawu, Bekwai, Fomena and several CHIPs compounds just to mention a few in the Ashanti region alone and said not even one major hospital was built by the NPP which is misleading students over allowances.
“Go and see the University of Ghana Medical CENTER which was on the drawing table for decades. Doctors and other Health trainees had to commute from Legon campus to Korle Bu under stress. Under President MAHAMA, the project is ready for commissioning. The UGMC alone will employ 600 doctors and 1,500 nurses. The Ridge hospital, Polyclinics being built in the regions and the 250 million dollars being spent in replacing obsolete equipment guarantees hope for the sick” he added
The Ashanti regional Minister who was brief in his address announced plans to expand the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital under the second term of President MAHAMA.
As the programme ended some of the NPP activists hearing the evidence being churned out begun to chicken out leaving a handful who still tried to please their paymasters.
