Reports that Dr. Stephen Opuni, erstwhile CEO of Cocobod was this evening engaged in a meeting with the NPP transition team are false.
Checks by GhanaWeb indicate the dismissed Cocobod boss did not go to the office today and had ordered that his official vehicle is returned to the office, explaining why his vehicle was found parked as by Accra-based Onua FM.
Sources close to Cocobod say the said meeting was with some officials of Cocobod and members of the Nana Addo transition team but did not include Dr. Stephen Opuni.
A letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, directed Dr. Opuni to hand over to the president’s representative at the Ministry of Agriculture by 5 pm on Friday.
However, Dr. Opuni handed over to officials of the transition team on Finance after a series of meetings some days ago and has since not been going to his office regularly.
According to GhanaWeb fact check, Cocobod as per the law comes directly under the Ministry of Finance and not the Agric Ministry as stated in the termination letter.
