Former Presidents John Mahama and Jerry John Rawlings will Tuesday join dignitaries at the Manhyia Palace to mark the funeral rites for the late Ashanti queen, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
Members of the National House of Chiefs are also expected to be at the palace today to take part in the late Asantehemaa’s funeral rites as the four-day event enters day two.
On Monday, President Nana Akufo-Addo and former President John Kufuor joined hundreds of dignitaries at the palace to pay their respects to the late queen.
Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan and British High Commissioner, Jon Benjamin, were also present at the event Monday.
The Ashanti Region capital, Kumasi, came to life on Monday with a colourful display of culture as thousands of mourners took part in a well-choreographed event at Mahnyia as the revered queen lay in state.
She is expected to lay in state until burial on Thursday in Breman.
Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II died at the age of 111 in November last year.
