President John Mahama has expressed his gratitude to former president JJ Rawlings for his advice and encouragement over the last four years as he served as leader of the nation.
“His encouragement has brought me to where I am. Over the last four years that I have been president, I have benefited from his advice and inspiration and I am grateful to him,” Mr. Mahama said of the founder of the NDC at the final rally of the ruling party in Accra.
Mr. Mahama also promised to be father for all Ghanaians if retained in the upcoming polls.
“I shall be father of all, I will use the muscle of government to create opportunities for the private sector. I will bring Ghanaians together, I will not tear them apart. I humbly ask for your mandate to complete the journey we started together. I can proudly say that in government we have made you proud with our achievements, at the same time we have not been complacent, we have covered this elections as if we are in opposition”.
The President also accused the opposition New Patriotic Party of planning to foment trouble in Wednesday’s polls.
“There are political forces that are intentionally staging incidents that have not occurred, reporting falsely to the international communities and seeking to create chaos but God will not allow their plans to succeed,” he stated.
