With just a day to the general elections, several people within the capital have begun travelling back to their respective areas where their polling stations are located.
A visit to the main bus terminal at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra showed many people in long queues awaiting vehicles to convey them to their destinations. Earlier reports indicated that people were stranded and could not get access to vehicles.
Many of the prospective voters who were heading to Kumasi to vote boarded cargo vehicles to their destinations.
Some of the passengers who spoke to GhanaWeb said that they could not afford the fares of the other buses hence their decision to join the cargo vehicles. Others also stated the unavailability of vehicles to transport them as their reason.
A vice Chairperson of the Circle-Anyinam station, Kofi Darko indicated that they had no option but to permit the drivers to use the cargo vehicles since they were scared of being confronted.
