Prof. Frimpong-Boateng was presented with a 24 carat gold medal for his contributions to cardiothoracic practice.
He also has a state-of-the-art first aid centre, equipped with three ambulances and a helicopter ambulance named after him.
Okyeame Kwame, on the other hand, was honoured for his work in the fight against hepatitis B since 2009.

He stressed on the need for healthcare practitioners to uphold professionalism in discharging their duties.
He commended Professor Frimpong Boateng for initiating the Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle Bu and charged him to help establish one in the Ashanti region.

The maiden award scheme is a national medico-social initiative geared towards celebrating excellence in the health sector.
Dr. Benedicta Ohene-Manu, Managing Director of Media Men Ghana Limited, organisers of the scheme, said the goal was to inspire health professionals to work with passion and dedication to bring relief to their patients.
