President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed academician-cum-politician, Professor Christorpher Ameyaw -Akumfi has to chair the board of directors of the Ghana Infrastructural Fund.
A letter to the fomer minister under the Kufuor administration signed by the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Ose-Opare congratulated Prof. Ameyaw -Akumfi and asked him to indicate his acceptance or otherwise of the appointment.
The Ghana Infrastructure is an independent fund set up by the government to mobilize, manage, coordinate and provide financial resources for investment in a diversified portfolio of infrastructure projects in Ghana.
It is focus is primarily to attract investments through the domestic and international capital and financial markets; the provision of debt and equity financing for infrastructure in Ghana.
The Fund is governed by a nine-member Board, appointed as per section 8 of the Ghana infrastructure investment fund Act 877 of 2014.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi who chairs the board once served as Minister of Education, and Minister of Ports and Habours Authority.
In academia, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi has participated in University of Cape Coast and University of Ghana system for many years and played instrumental role in the reform and decentralization of the university system in the country.
He’s a member of several professional bodies, including, the Ghana Science Association, West African Science Association, and Crustacean Society.
A past member of the New York Academy of Sciences as well as the International Association Of Astocologists and American Society of Zoologist.
