A lecturer, Professor John Aheto, has advised businesses in Ghana to be abreast of the laws, rules and regulations of their counterparts in other countries before they go into any form of negotiations with them.
He said most often, people go into business partnership with other businesses without really knowing their terms and conditions.
Professor Aheto was speaking at a seminar organised by the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tema, Accra to educate their members on steps to take in partnerships.
He stated the need for businesses to also do proper research into the people they are collaborating with, especially when business money is at stake.
He also noted that there was the need for businesses to take advantage of the recent improvement in the power situation in the country and revive their businesses.
“The power situation in the country has been resolved and would not affect businesses again,” he stressed.
He said even though industries and businesses suffered some setbacks due to the power situation, things will improve by the middle of the year 2017.
He also charged members to take up the challenge as global perspective was very important in business issues.
A media practitioner, Mr. Samuel Agyemang, who spoke on media and business, charged businesses to take advantage of the media to enhance their businesses.
He said they can use the media for their advancement such as advertising in the dailies, on the television, radio and recently by using social media.
Mr. Agyemang tasked the chamber to see the media as a friend whom they can use to make their businesses more competitive.
