A prison officer was shot and killed while another was fatally injured when suspected robbers accosted their vehicle at Atebubu/Amantin in the Brong Ahafo region Sunday.
According to reports, the deceased, Nana Yaw Antwi and his colleagues were returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident happened.
They were attacked in the Akokoa township where Yaw Antwi was shot while another, Paul Gyan who sustained gunshot wounds is in a critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The armed robbers took away two service uniforms and a gun from their victims who were traveling with their senior officers.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Atebubu government hospital while investigations commence.
